A respect for our shared natural world and its precious resources drives our whole approach. Central to our ethos is using local suppliers and makers, reducing material miles and helping to sustain our British Craft heritage. All of our metal, wood, glass and tassel elements are sourced locally or from the UK. Making all of our lights to order allows us to avoid using unnecessary resources and produces less waste.
We want to create products that last a lifetime and beyond. By using local craftspeople we can be assured of quality of material and finish. Plus, having a close relationship with our makers means every last detail can be fine-tuned and any issues are dealt with quickly. Our customers can be confident that our lights are made with the highest crafted quality and will stand the test of time, reducing our products’ planet footprint.
We offer a full REPAIR and EXCHANGE service. If ever your light-piece needs some tender loving care we can fully repair it. Alternatively, if you would like a refresh we offer a part exchange service too. You get a brand new light-piece and we can reuse your exchanged glass as part of a new Curiousa creation for someone else. Helping us to work towards a no waste society.
We promote respect, for not just our customers, but to each other and the wider community too. This holistic approach to our work, means that the well being of our Curiousa team and local community counts alongside the product. We encourage a four day week and flexible working alongside away days and regular team breakfasts (local sausage sandwiches being the favourite!). We also give back to local organisations, having supported music and dance events, outdoor screenings and refugee sponsorship. We actively strive to be part of a wider community and culture.
We now use 80% compostable packing and aim to be plastic free by the end of 2025. At present our glassblowers use over 50% recycled glass and continue to work towards the use of renewable energy within the blowing process. We don’t like to sit still and it’s important we keep striving to do better and build on good practice so we’ve decided to aim for B Corp accreditation by 2026.
