Introducing the Carnival Collection, a playful and expressive evolution of our Sculptural Stack series. Debuting at Clerkenwell Design Week 2025, the Carnival Collection is a celebration of craftsmanship and materiality, exploring a dynamic interplay of porcelain, wood, and our signature hand-blown glass, blending rich textures with a soft colour palette to create strikingly sculptural lighting pieces.
Inspired by the geometric Harlequin motif—rooted in 16th-century Italian Commedia dell’arte theatre—the Carnival Collection embraces joyful contrasts. Much like the patchwork costumes of the Harlequins, pieced together from fabric remnants, this collection combines porcelain, wood, and glass, in an experimental curation of form and material. The result is a series of illuminated art pieces that exude warmth, character, and playfulness.
Designer and founder, Esther Patterson, comments: “With the Carnival collection, I wanted to push the boundaries of our sculptural lighting, layering different materials to create something truly tactile and expressive. There’s an intriguing balance between the geometric forms and organic curves—each piece has its own personality, much like a performer on stage. The combination of ceramics, wood, and hand-blown glass adds depth, texture, and a beautifully warm glow to interiors.”
Consisting of three drop chandeliers Lazzo, Vecchio and Bravado, each Carnival light is designed as a statement piece, whether placed over a dining table, beside a sofa or partnered in a cluster cascading in a stairwell or in a hotel foyer, where multiples can create a breathtaking sculptural display. The ceramic elements introduce a new tactile dimension, softening the light while adding weight and presence to the form.
